MMSL's Skills Development services help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities build independence through goal-based, individualized plans — focused on life skills, community participation, and personal growth.
Individualized Skills Development (ISD) services help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities build the practical skills they need to live as independently as possible. Every plan starts with the individual — their own goals, interests, and priorities — identified collaboratively with their support team through the ISP process.
Skills training takes place in real-life settings: the individual's home, their community, local businesses, and other natural environments. Skill areas include meal preparation, household management, money handling, navigating community resources, developing pre-vocational skills, and pursuing employment opportunities.
MMSL tracks each individual's progress toward their goals and adjusts plans as skills develop and priorities evolve. ISD services can be provided on their own or coordinated with other MMSL supports such as Community Networking or Individualized Supported Living to create a comprehensive, person-centered support package.
